Creation Tapestries

In studying a tapestry, it is apparent that there is not simply a rich diversity of color and texture; but the weaving materials are also surprisingly varied. In fact, one might also gain insights into the social fabric of the communities of origin; whether Apache, Flemish, Medieval, or modern. As one steps back from closely scrutinizing the vivid weave, an ornate and beautiful scene becomes apparent and one might be amazed at the talent and creativity of humanity. But what about the origins of those materials; the landscape or seabed that provide the tools for our creativity; the cultures that originated the techniques we barely understand, yet enjoy their fruits? Like the human-crafted commodities from which we benefit and take pleasure, we are also a part of a larger tapestry, known as creation.
This
web site seeks to celebrate the natural tapestry of the least of those fauna
and flora species with which we share our planet and to promote an appreciation
of “real” places, born from the organic activity of society on
the land. The goal is to share ideas and information that may illuminate issues
related to conservation, reconstruction or reclamation of native habitat and
natural communities, as well as to promote ways of assuring that the “circle
of life” is sustainable in and around our places of work and recreation.
It is hoped that such ideas can expand a culture of environmental stewardship.
